What this printable helps you do
Observe a building through shape, material and visible function. Choose a manageable focus for the visit rather than trying to record every display. Use the venue rules and official labels for context, and note the source of a supplied detail. A short observation with an object or location identifier is easier to revisit than a long list of disconnected impressions. Leave time to look before you write.

What is on the page
Four large writing panels separate related parts of the task. Each panel has its own heading and ruled space. Use short notes, labeled sketches or a mixture of both, keeping each detail beside the heading it helps explain. The four headings are Building and viewpoint, Repeated shapes, Material details, Question about use. Add a subject identifier and date at the top so the page can be understood when you return to it.
How to use it
Sketch from a permitted public viewpoint and focus on one elevation or entrance. Start with one example rather than filling the whole page at once. Use ordinary language you will understand later and add a reference where a note depends on another source.
A practical example
Repeated window widths can be compared with the spacing of columns without measuring private areas. This illustrates how to begin; the downloadable page is blank so you can use your own subject, materials and observations.
Review before you reuse it
Use descriptive language and avoid inferring structural safety from appearance. Read the finished page from the perspective of someone who was not present. Clarify an abbreviation, mark an unanswered question and identify the next small action if one is needed.
