What this printable helps you do
Compare two artworks through specific visual choices. Choose a manageable focus for the visit rather than trying to record every display. Use the venue rules and official labels for context, and note the source of a supplied detail. A short observation with an object or location identifier is easier to revisit than a long list of disconnected impressions. Leave time to look before you write.

What is on the page
Two upper comparison areas include sketch space, with two additional writing areas below for a synthesis or decision. Compare the same feature on both sides before drawing a conclusion from the differences. The four headings are Work A notes, Work B notes, Shared choices, Different effects. Add a subject identifier and date at the top so the page can be understood when you return to it.
How to use it
Name the works and compare one feature such as line, scale or composition rather than ranking them. Start with one example rather than filling the whole page at once. Use ordinary language you will understand later and add a reference where a note depends on another source.
A practical example
Two portraits may use different viewing angles that change where your attention goes first. This illustrates how to begin; the downloadable page is blank so you can use your own subject, materials and observations.
Review before you reuse it
Support an interpretation with something visible and leave room for another reading. Read the finished page from the perspective of someone who was not present. Clarify an abbreviation, mark an unanswered question and identify the next small action if one is needed.
