Grid Symmetry Drawing Worksheet with Mirror Answers

This grid symmetry drawing worksheet provides four half-shapes beside vertical dashed lines. Complete the other half by placing corresponding points the same distance on the opposite side. A square grid helps you compare positions without measuring with a ruler.

Use the dashed line as the mirror

Choose a corner on the printed half and count how many grid spaces it lies from the dashed line. Keep the same height and count the same distance on the other side. A point on the line stays in the same place when reflected.

Reflect points before joining them

Mark the matching corners lightly, then connect them in the order shown by the original outline. This separates deciding where a point belongs from drawing the whole reflected path. Check both horizontal distance and vertical level before making a final line.

Watch horizontal, vertical, and diagonal segments

A horizontal segment remains horizontal and a vertical segment remains vertical in the reflected half. A diagonal leans the opposite way across the mirror line. The shapes use grid intersections so the endpoints can be compared directly.

Use the blue solution as a check

The answer image preserves the original dark half and shows the reflected half in blue. If a point does not match, count its distance from the mirror line again rather than stretching the rest of the shape to meet it.

The tasks use vertical lines of symmetry only. They do not ask for rotation or for sliding a whole shape to a new position. Work on one figure at a time, or cover the lower tasks for a shorter activity. The butterfly outline offers a separate decorative activity if you want to explore matching patterns after completing the grid work.
