How to use it
Multiply the numerators together and the denominators together, then simplify. For example, 2/3 times 3/5 equals 6/15, or 2/5. You can also cancel common factors across the numerator and denominator before multiplying when you explain why the value stays equivalent.
Check and adapt
Estimate the result before calculating. Multiplying a positive quantity by a proper fraction makes it smaller, which is a useful check on the answer. Unlike addition, multiplication does not require common denominators. These exercises use positive fractions with exact rational answers.
