This winter word search printable brings twelve cold-weather words into a single letter puzzle. The grid has fifteen rows and fifteen columns, with words placed only to the right or downward.
Your winter puzzle
Find snow, mitten, scarf, sled, frost, cocoa, icicle, skate, hat, boots, winter, and fire. Every word appears once in the permitted directions. The word bank stays on the same page as the puzzle.

Choose a search strategy
Read one word from the bank, then scan for its first letter. At each possible start, check right and down. A partial match is useful, but continue until every letter fits before marking the word.
If the whole grid feels busy, cover part of it with a blank sheet while checking a row. Move the cover as needed; words can continue across the area you are temporarily hiding.
Winter answer key
The solution uses a light highlight behind each complete word. Compare the first and last letters when checking a result, especially where words cross.

Accessible location list
Rows and columns start at 1 in the upper-left corner. The coordinates identify the first letter, and the direction tells you where to continue.
| Word | Start row | Start column | Direction |
|---|---|---|---|
| MITTEN | 7 | 7 | down |
| ICICLE | 7 | 1 | down |
| WINTER | 6 | 9 | right |
| SCARF | 7 | 15 | down |
| FROST | 9 | 3 | right |
| COCOA | 3 | 4 | right |
| SKATE | 8 | 10 | down |
| BOOTS | 14 | 7 | right |
| SNOW | 2 | 7 | right |
| SLED | 13 | 3 | right |
| FIRE | 2 | 15 | down |
| HAT | 2 | 12 | right |
Extend a short session
After solving, group the words into clothing, activities, and other winter ideas. Some words can fit more than one discussion category. You can also ask for a short sentence that uses two words from the bank.
This puzzle uses familiar winter vocabulary without holiday-specific names. It can be printed for a classroom table activity or a quiet activity at home.
