These free printable addition worksheets offer two short sets of twelve problems. Start with totals within 10, then move to a page with totals from 11 through 20. Each page has room beneath the calculations for drawings, counters, or another way of showing the work.
Addition within 10
The first worksheet uses nonnegative whole numbers and totals no greater than ten. It includes a zero addend as well as pairs that make ten. Read the whole equation before filling the answer line.

Addition within 20
The second worksheet uses two addends from 1 to 10, with totals between 11 and 20. For a calculation such as 7 + 9, make a group of ten first: move three from the nine to the seven, then add the remaining six. The result is 16.

Use a short practice routine
- Choose one worksheet and work through three or four problems.
- Ask the learner to explain one answer with a drawing or equal-size counters.
- Compare the completed problems with the matching answer key.
- Return to an incorrect calculation and find the step that changed the total.
The two pages are different practice sets, not a complete assessment of addition skills. A learner can repeat a smaller selection before trying the next page.
