These beginner sudoku printables introduce smaller grids before a standard nine-by-nine puzzle. The collection has one four-by-four grid and one six-by-six grid, each with a separate answer image. Every puzzle has been checked to have a single solution.
Start with the four-by-four grid
Use the digits one through four. Each row, each column, and each bold two-by-two box must contain every digit once. The given digits stay in place. Before writing in a blank cell, check all three groups it belongs to rather than looking only across its row.

Check the small-grid solution
Use the answer page after an attempt or to discuss one step. Newly filled digits are blue on the key, while the original clues remain dark. If a digit is repeated in a row, column, or box, revisit the choices in that group rather than copying the entire solution.

Move to the six-by-six puzzle
The larger grid uses digits one through six. Its bold boxes have two rows and three columns, so the box shape differs from the square boxes in the smaller puzzle. The rule remains the same: each digit appears once in every row, column, and bold box.

Use elimination rather than arithmetic
Sudoku digits are labels; you do not add them to reach a total. List which digits are already present in a cell’s row, column, and box, then consider the remaining possibilities. Work in pencil if you want to revise candidate notes. The smaller dimensions make these introductory formats, but an individual learner may still want guidance or a partial demonstration.
