Pet Care Log Printable for Routine Handovers

This pet care log printable helps people share a routine without relying on memory. The top box holds the owner-agreed instructions, and seven rows below record the date or time, task, person who completed it, and a short note. Use the page for ordinary routine handovers rather than as a medical chart.

Write the agreed routine first

Label the pet and care period at the top. Use the large box to record instructions supplied by the owner, including which tasks need to be tracked. If several pets have different arrangements, keep separate pages so an instruction is not accidentally associated with the wrong animal.

Make each entry specific

The task column can record food, water, a walk, or another agreed action. Include the relevant time and enough detail for the next person to understand what happened. “Evening walk completed, AB” communicates more than an unexplained checkmark when several carers are involved.

Distinguish completion from a note

Write an observation as an observation, and state separately whether the planned task was completed. If an instruction is unclear, contact the owner or appropriate professional rather than interpreting the blank sheet as guidance. The form does not specify feeding amounts, exercise requirements, treatment, or medication.

Read the last entries before acting

During a handover, look at the most recent time and task so you know what has already been done. Agree on how initials will be used and where any additional instructions are kept. A page can cover one day, several short visits, or another clearly stated period; the seven rows do not define a required frequency.

Keep contacts separately accessible

Make sure the people involved have the owner’s contact information and any appropriate instructions through the arrangements already agreed with them. Avoid adding unnecessary private details to a page left in a shared space. When the rows are full, start another dated sheet rather than squeezing a new entry between old ones.
